To celebrate the 150th Anniversary of Lewis Carroll’s ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’ The Montagu at The Hyatt Regency Churchill Hotel in Portman Square, London are offering a truly Mad Hatter experience from now until September 8th. Whilst your taste buds delight on mouth-watering delights with ‘Eat Me’ and ‘Taste Me’ on them you can also relax amongst 20 of Lomax and Skinner bespoke hats that will also surround you.
The tea is such fun. Minx and I went along on a Friday afternoon, even from the start when you are giving the menu printed up on a Mad Hatter playing card. With such delicacies as ‘Mock Turtle Gazpacho Soup’ and ‘Cheeky Cheshire Cat Strawberry Chocolate Cream’ you can’t help but smile and look forward to what you are about to be served.
All of the staff are well versed with Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and took great care in explaining which part of the food/drinks went along with which part of the story. So much care and attention to detail has gone into every aspect of the tea from all of the specially made labels to all the thought behind each part of the tiered extravaganza you are presented. My warning would be to GO HUNGRY as there is so much to eat and you don’t want to miss anything (however, if your eyes are bigger than your belly they will pack leftovers in a box to take home!).
The hats are beautiful and a lot of fun to pick out the characters from Alice amongst the fabulous millinery on show.
A delight for all the senses but be quick as it’s only on until September 8th.
