In June 2006, Pan-Asian restaurant Gilgamesh opened in the heart of Camden Stables Market, North London, offering a unique Eastern gastronomic and nightlife experience. The 200-cover restaurant features a fully retractable roof, a bar and lounge area, several private events spaces, Gilgamesh’s Studio nightclub and the Ketel One 80 Bar.
In December Gilgamesh launched a new FREE menu for children, which is available from noon up until 7pm each day. The freshly made menu has a slightly Asian take on fish and chips – tempura fish served with hand cut chips and salad for a balanced meal. Alternatively, there is a vegetable noodle dish with the option of added chicken. The children then get a treat of ice cream to enjoy for dessert. The menu is valid for two children per adult (spending a minimum of £20) else £7.50 per child.
As the mother of an eight year old I’m always on the look out for somewhere that does a tasty children’s menu that is also good value (not always easy to tick both of those boxes). The Minx and I are fairly local to Gilgamesh so went to check out their kid’s free lunch menu. IT IS HUGE IN THERE, a really great space with huge round tables as well as smaller areas too. Ideal for lunch meetings if you want somewhere a little different; it’s very airy, the tables aren’t on top of each other so you feel as though you have a lot of space around you to chat and not feel part of the next table’s conversation.
The food is uncomplicated with a fast and friendly service. Minx opted for chicken with noodles; I had tofu, rice and noodles, both equally tasty and perfect in portion size. We had Ice cream to finish plus a Mama and babycino. We were in and out in around 45 minutes and completely satisfied.
The Gilgamesh free kids menu is running alongside the new set lunch menu available during the week for just £10. This offers a choice of chicken, vegetable or seafood curry with rice or the same varieties of Singapore noodles with a tiger beer, house red or white or preferred soft drink.
Would definitely recommend and we shall be returning *thumbs up *
