Film Review – Gone Girl

Gone Girl opened here in London last weekend to great reviews, and here is another from me:

Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike star in this thriller with a touch of comedy adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s bestselling novel Gone Girl of 2012 of the same name.

It starts with the disappearance of Nick Dunne’s wife of the children’s book series ‘Amazing Amy’, what then follows looks like a classic guilty until proven innocent tale, however it soon begins to shift into more of a Single White Female/Fatal Attraction sitting on the edge of your seat plot. Amy loves to make a treasure hunt full of clues for their wedding anniversary and this year is no different, however it’s now the police following the clues as well as her husband.

imagesWe want to believe that Nick is innocent but it’s so hard when you dissect their marriage and Amy’s diary has noted every good and bad moment throughout their five-year marriage.

imgres-1Brilliant performances from Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike and Neil Patrick Harris. A script full of twists and turns and if like me you have the attention span of a goldfish please don’t be put off by it’s two and a half hours running time, it needs that length to pack everything in and there really is no time to doze.

Gone Girl is in cinemas now.
