Manchester based Events Company Make Events celebrated their 2nd birthday this month, and what better way to celebrate then to hold a party! Make Events are the premier event company in the city so it was a pretty spectacular event held at the Coronation Street tour. Becky of Team DC went down to check it out.
The Singing Hildas, complete with rollers and aprons, sang some old school swing favourites as we strolled passed Curly Watt’s living room into the Rover’s Return where it was possible to do a little wine tasting or have your tea leaves read. We visited Vera and Jack’s before emerging on to those iconic cobbles for Roy’s Rolls and hotpot.
Lots of pictures were taken outside various houses, of the cobbles, and of course, of the exterior of the Rover’s Return. We were fortunate that Manchester seems to have moved to the Mediterranean so the sun was belting down! Top tip for visiting the tour is to wear some comfortable shows – it turns out that heels aren’t that practical on cobbles!
ITV have moved production to the all-singing-all-dancing facilities in Salford Quays, so the original Coronation Street set has been turned into a tour for fans to visit television history for themselves. It’s also available to hire for events until October this year when it closes its doors for the last time. The Coronation Street tour is an insight into the magic of television production and a behind the scenes glimpse into one of the most iconic programmes on British television.
