They say the neon lights are bright on Broadway, they say there’s always magic in the air…
Oh stop me now before I launch into a whole show tune medley! This week I skipped up and down Broadway, being a huge musical theatre fan and there are lots of shows in preview and opening that I wanted to see so I took a few days out to catch up with friends, colleagues, clients and some theatre (okay, maybe some shopping too…).
I flew out Thursday via British Airways and stayed with friends in the East Village – not far from that famous bar Coyote Ugly who were celebrating their 21st birthday that weekend. I didn’t go in, I was too intimidated but I did try looking through the door as I walked past to see if I could see people being sprayed with beer by gals mid dance routine on the bar, however it was far too packed out to spy anything from afar, maybe next time?
I squeezed in four shows; Of Mice and Men, If/Then, Bullets over Broadway and an off Broadway show called Buyer & Cellar (reviews to follow). Met up with Jeff from Attitude New York who runs a very slick, uber professional car service – I wouldn’t look anywhere else (unless they were booked up of course!).
Lunched at Joe Allen’s with friends, brunched at Café Fiorelli with friends, ate cupcakes at Billy’s Bakery, drank coffee at Dean & Deluca, shopped for the minx at The Plaza Hotel, breakfasted at Gramercy Café, jumped on and off the subway and walked my socks off!
