My Week – February 27th, 2014

Oscars weekend, yay! However, now I have a seven year old daughter (yes, and a half if she’s reading this…) long gone are the Oscar parties when we would stay up until sometimes 7am the next morning to watch them live, fill out our ballots, count our votes and see who would be the holder of the (fake) Oscar for the next year. No engraving necessary on this gold-sprayed plastic statue, just a sticky label and we were happy. I do try to stay up for the red carpet arrivals if I can, although I wasn’t a fan of the ‘mani cam’ at the Golden Globes, it was taking ‘what are you wearing’? (Seriously from your fingers to your toes?!) A little too far…

As it was half term we fitted in the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition at the Natural History Museum, which was brilliant, the Minx soaked up all things natural and historical during the four hours we were there and I was thrilled their restaurant is run by Benugo. Lunch at The Wolseley was a nice treat and I even got to bring the Minx to work with me, which she always loves. ‘Mummy, do you wear a badge as a celebrity PA?” And being a girl after my own heart, we did some errands then stopped for lunch at Wholefoods, then she made a 3D playground and I solved some IT issues, very productive day for both of us.

Such an exciting week, not only with my eBook being launched on Amazon ‘The Chamber of Celebrity PA Secrets’ but we added a new member to our family in the form of a tortoise! Valenteeny is a one year old Horsfield tortoise, eats weeds and leaves and spends a lot of time in and out of it’s water bowl, possibly a turtle in a former life or just thinks it has a hot tub….

Happy Oscars weekend and if you’re reading in Rio de Janeiro enjoy your Carnival weekend!
