Review – Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland

It’s that wonderful time of year again when Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland opens up and we all get the chance to wander (or run) around, mesmerised by the amount of pretty lights that have been used; indulge in all the glorious food and hot mulled wine and cider on offer; browse through the beautiful handmade goodies available to purchase at the array of festive huts, and take a spin or two on a fast ride.

IMG_6067That’s exactly what I did at the VIP press launch on Thursday (note: do the fast rides before the hot cider). As well as, take a very chilly trip through the beautiful Magical Ice Kingdom which has been created by a new partnership between Winter Wonderland and Simply Saxony – a new campaign by the Free State of Saxony (the home of Christmas) which hopes to encourage people to visit the region.

Inside The Magical Ice Kingdom, you can take a stroll through a fantasy world with woodland creatures, medieval settings, fairies and giants all around you, made from real ice and snow. There is even an ice slide which looked very popular on the night – and a new addition to the experience in the form of an Ice Bar.

If you have been to Winter Wonderland before, you’ll know exactly what to expect. There are plenty of sweets for both the adults and kids to try, ice skating, roller coasters, a giant ferris wheel, a variety of stalls to try and win a teddy bear or two on, and even one where you can win 2kg of chocolate!
