Review – The Ice Rink at Selfridges, Manchester Trafford

There’s definitely been a chill in the air recently and the nights have drawn in which can mean only one thing – Christmas is coming and it’s time to get your skates on.Selfridges_Ice_Rink

And now there’s the opportunity to combine any dreams of being Torville or Dean with your Christmas shopping, as Selfridges, at the Trafford Centre, has launched its boutique ice rink. And, as its Selfridges it isn’t just any old ice rink, it’s probably one of the most luxurious ice rink experiences in the country.

I was lucky enough to be invited to the launch of the rink to enjoy the UGG rink-side lounge, with its super cosy sheepskin chairs and covered benches. There’s also a Krispy Kreme concession inside, and what’s better on a cold winter’s evening than hot chocolate and an apple cinnamon doughnut?!

The all-new covered ice rink guarantees a great skate whatever the weather.  The rink, which holds 120 skaters, is truly a winter wonderland.  Glass walls are lined with garlands studded with twinkly lights and bespoke rose gold baubles with one wall featuring a silver birch forest.  The luxury rink is completed with 42 stunning glitter balls for a unique skating experience.

Open from November 14, the all-new covered ice rink is complete with Christmas music and trained ice marshals who will be on hand with skating tips, making it an unabashedly festive day out.

icerinkThe Selfridges Ice Rink, in association with UGG, is open until January 5, 2014. Adult skating from £7 off peak and £9 peak, children and concessions from £5 off peak and £7 peak.   Parking at Trafford Centre is free.
