My Week – 31st October, 2013

I feel my week should be called ‘our week’ as all of Team DC have been out there working on this weeks newsletter: Clare has been busy reading Susie Barron-Stubley’s book ‘Create a Business-Busting Partnership with your Assistant – The Executive’s Guide’ (review to follow and competition!), Becky has been stirring her cauldron and to perfect the ultimate Pumpkin soup recipe and Lauren and I have been dashing around town pawing Lulu Guinness sweetie shop inspired handbags (LOVE!), even if you’re a bit ‘bah humbug’ in the coming months, you will love the humbugs on the zipper fastenings on these little gems. Even candy striped bags, black and white rock bags and scrunched foil leather exteriors to choose from – Team DC has a seriously sweet tooth and we literally were like kids in a sweet shop!

Keeping with the sugary theme we then went to a chocolate tasting at Fortnum and Mason, Lauren was like a magpie as soon as she saw all the festive sparkles in there but then we put our serious heads on to concentrate on a Brazilian chocolate brand called Q– deliciously decadent (review to follow), and left us with a lovely ‘cocoa buzz’ as we made our way back through the confectionary section (admittedly a little distracted by the macaroon counter…).

So half term and Halloween are upon us, the school holidays always make us a little crazy anyway without the spooky time adding to the fun. Minx and I have been pumpkin carving and planning our costumes for trick or treating (I will be black cat, she will be black kitten…), fortunately we had our dentist trip at the beginning of the week (good timing, thanks www.kindandental.com!).

I had a day at QVC that was just right at this time of year for feeling snuggly in some knitwear, saw The Fifth Estate and Captain Phillips at BAFTA (closely followed by St Judes storm that night, fortunately the only thing I had to chase was the lid from the recycling bin down my street, I hope you all came out of it safely too), two great films, with incredible leading men.

Other things this week include coaching another fabulous PA that I met at Office*show London who I hope (and deservedly so) to find her dream job very soon and doing a piece for Women’s Health Magazine on organizing tips too, I’ll let you know as soon as it’s out.

Work has been about clearing up storm damage, book-keeping (ugh), theatre and restaurant bookings and carving pumpkins!

Next week I shall be in New York, if you have suggestions for my ‘New York Little Black Book’ please let me know, I’d love to include them.
