Let the sun shine, let the sun shine… doesn’t this weather make you sing? It puts a skip in my step and I feel as though I can take on the world. The sun and positivity are such a great team, I’m a Leo and I don’t know about you but with a birthday a month away I start to go into overdrive to see what I can achieve before my ‘birthday’ year is up. I don’t relish torturing myself over what I did or didn’t do over the past year; it’s just something I like to put myself through…!
So another month to go and I still have an unfinished list; several shows I haven’t fitted in, a book proposal that I just need to sit down long enough to work on, the last four months of magazines to read (and tear pages out of), the Bowie exhibition at the V&A which I can’t get a ticket for and the right tinted moisturizer that doesn’t disappear as soon as I put it on…
However, in the last two weeks I have achieved many things, daughter’s birthday party – huge success, followed by dinner at The Wolseley, (she declared the mash, carrots and spinach a triumph). I’ve been for Thai afternoon tea at Lancaster London (review to follow), seen World War Z (not really me but Brad on the big screen is no hardship), The Bling Ring (fun, maybe could have been shorter) and Despicable Me 2 (Great!). Made cupcakes, bought teachers end of year gifts and discovered an amazing freelance nail technician Stephanie Staunton – she works a lot on film sets and photo shoots but in the time she has in between can do home visits, yay for that.
So between my day job, daughter’s impending summer holidays and this newsletter and website, my list doesn’t get smaller but maybe as I get older I can try and adopt the phrase ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day’ and just fit in what I can fit in. Similar to how I work with my clients needs, prioritising what needs to be done now and not stressing about what can be done later.
It may be a glorious summer here in London; I want to enjoy it, don’t you? Pimms anyone?
