Ida Ruby is a lovely brand that pays homage to pin-up girls, vintage glamour and the belief that all the clothes we wear should be an extension of ourselves. They recently launched their Spring/Summer collection for 2013 which features a range of beautiful corsets, basques and bustiers in a variety of shapes and colours.
The online store launched in March 2013 and sells vintage-inspired corsets for women of all shapes and sizes. Ida Ruby is also working in partnership with the Eve Appeal – a charity funding research into gynaecological cancer in women. For every sale, Ida Ruby donates 50p to the charity.
Some of the nicest pieces available online are the emerald green bustier (Georgia), the black and pink corset (Roberta) and the navy blue corset (Nita).
Georgia is one of the favourite pieces in the Spring/Summer collection. The emerald green bustier has a peplum waist and a scattering of bows down the front. Teamed with some simple dark jeans like these from Topshop, (or a pencil skirt to accentuate the peplum) it can make a great addition to anyone’s Spring/Summer wardrobe.
The Roberta corset on the other hand is plastic and steel boned with a smooth silhouette to cinch in your waist and enhance your cleavage. The black contrasts nicely with the light pink lace trim and works well with tiered skirts like this pink one that can be found in River Island in a similar light pink colour.
Finally, the Nita corset. It is a navy blue corset with a bronze and blue flower trim around the top and bottom. The front closure is steel boned and there is additional plastic boning throughout to create the perfect silhouette. Add some cute washed out and faded denim shorts (like these from River Island), or some with the on-trend crochet trim (from Miss Selfridge) and you have a beautiful dressed-down summer look. All we need now is the summer…!
