Hotel Review: The Montcalm London City at The Brewery

How spoilt am I? I spent the night at The Montcalm London City at The Brewery a couple of weeks ago. I’d spent the weekend at my Mum’s and did lots of driving and the perfect wind down was a night here.

Montcalm London City

It’s a beautiful Grade II listed building that has been transformed into a contemporary 5 star hotel whilst keeping its heritage values. 235 rooms so not small at all, with the luxurious amenities you would expect for 5 star including; a butler service, executive club lounge, room service, meeting and banqueting rooms. Complimentary Wi-Fi throughout, in-room coffee machine and Hermes Eau d’orange verte amenities.

I was in a ‘WOW’ suite and it really was. It was roomy with a fabulous four-poster bed – I felt like a Disney princess. I could see the street below (I was on the second floor) but heard no traffic noise. A desk so I could work, and the bathroom was stunning – although I never really understand the screen between the bedroom and bathroom that you can choose to keep open or close, but hey that’s me – and I ran the most enormous bubble bath.

They have a super concierge who answered all my questions – and I really liked being able to walk through the hotel to another set of lifts to go out to the restaurant for dinner rather than going outside and walking down the street. (I know, it’s the little things…).

It’s a super hotel maintaining all its original character, especially with the fabulous brickwork inside the lobby area. Ideal meeting rooms too and just around the corner from Moorgate tube right in the heart of the City, I’d definitely go again in a flash.

Have you been to The Montcalm? Were you also ‘wowed’?
