There’s so much to be grateful for with mums. Mine’s been a bit of a lifesaver recently so I treated her, well I went too (!), to a spa day at Mottram Hall near Alderley Edge, Cheshire.
It took a while to find it, but once we started on the long, tree lined road approaching the venue we both knew we’d be in for a treat. A converted Georgian mansion, now a hotel, wedding venue, golf club, and, of course, spa which has recently been refurbished and with its muted greys, creams and greens encourages you to relax as soon as you walk through the door.
Lunch was included with our package – a simple but delicious sandwich lunch beautifully presented with salad and freshly cooked crisps.
Armed with huge fluffy Egyptian cotton robes and a pair of matching pristine slippers we were guided to the spa and changing area.
The changing area is a little bijou to say the least but there is a modesty changing room, the showers are wet rooms with organic shampoo, conditioner and body wash as standard; and you can imagine how relieved I was that there were not only hairdryers but GHDs too. No more Miss Frizz straight from the spa.
Snuggled in our robes we were greeted by name by the welcoming spa staff who directed us into one of the most sumptuous treatment rooms I have ever been in. I was indulging in a hot stone massage and express facial. Normally I feel a little claustrophobic with my head in the massage table but, I was made to feel incredibly comfortable.
The treatments were quietly, discreetly and professionally carried out as your relaxation is tantamount; the following the treatments you can take some chill out time in the mobile phone free relaxation room…
All in all, a very enjoyable and, much needed, relaxing day for a busy PA and her mum!
