My week started again with more trips via Virgin Atlantic this time to head out to Sydney, Australia to speak at the 5th Annual EA & PA Convention. And what a glorious time to hit Sydney, 28/29 degrees and sunshine, although I wasn’t prepared for the humidity and did have to work ‘big hair’ while I was there…
I ran an all day workshop on ‘how to be a better PA’ in a fabulous venue called Doltone House which even had the Harbour Bridge in the background, how cool is that? I spent the day with a fantastically inspiring group of PA’s and then went back the next day to open the convention. The room was filled with uber glam, warm, intelligent women who spent the following two days being motivated, picking up hints and tips and at one point banging drums, oh yeah!
As soon as arrived in Sydney I hit the ground running, checking into the Novotel at the speed of lightening then heading out with my friend Ali to sample Sparkles Cupcakery followed by cocktails at the Sailor’s Club in Rose Bay, to take in the view, breeze, good conversation and some mighty fine cocktails.
With the time difference it meant I was actually ahead of my clients – which I always try to do by being 3 steps ahead, this time I was 11 hours ahead! Also face timing my daughter was easy as I could chat as she woke up and as she went to bed and I was able to share the beautiful Sydney sunrise with her from my hotel window.
Taronga Zoo was a fabulous way to spend an afternoon – who doesn’t love a Koala – as they say, when in Rome…
The ferry ride from Circular Quay past the Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House was breath taking and breezy (which was very welcome), finishing with day with dinner later back at the Novotel with a friend, and so easy as I could just fall in to bed straight after with no effort of a journey home.
Back in London town now and I’m missing the Sydney sunshine, although with spring poking its head in and out we’re not too far away from it. A fun return to work stuff was a recording of ‘Vicious’ – Derek Jacobi and Ian McKellen star in this sit-com written by Gary Janetti, and it is HILARIOUS, well worth looking out for when it airs later in the Spring.
