Restaurant review – Mad Mex, Darling Harbour, Sydney

As I walked around Sydney I saw several of these little Mexican restaurants, and the receptionist in the hotel I was staying in said I had to go and try Mad Mex if I don’t try anything else. As I was just a couple of minutes away from one I figured it would have been crazy not to.

I took my friend Chenelle with me and super fast, informative friendly service was what greeted us when we walked into this gourmet Mexican grill in Harbourside, Darling Harbour. Mad Mex makes made-to-order Baja Mexican dishes, combining authentic flavours and spices from Mexico and the health-conscious cuisine from California.

They have a great choice of tacos, burritos, nachos and quesadillas that can be filled with roasted, grilled and slow-cooked meats or a delicious veggie mix. Everything is laid out in front of you and quickly explained.

Chenelle opted for a naked burrito with beef and I had the soft tacos with the veggie mix; tasty, delicious, freshly made – I liked being able to customize my food (handy when you’re a fussy eater…) and being able to eat it instantly. We had to sample the frozen margaritas too of course, such great value and very easy to drink!

For a healthy, freshly made fast food option I’d definitely seek out Mad Mex next time I’m in the city.
