Restaurant review – HIX Mayfair Restaurant in Brown’s Hotel – London

I recently had the privilege of dining at HIX Mayfair and what a true amiable, lovely, and delectable restaurant. We went on a particularly harsh cold night and as soon as we entered, it was a truly charming and warm experience.

hix mayfair

Originally opened in 1837, this greatly located restaurant has undergone subtle enhancements which heighten the elegant dining experience. Mayfair is also conscious of sourcing local and seasonal ingredients fruits and veggies. How green of them! No pun intended. 😉

 sea kale

To start, I had sea kale, and chicory, pear and queen mary maude (cheese) salad as a main (the combination was absolutely remarkable) and gluten free bread. The husband had fish, chips and minted crushed peas – the fish batter had a great crispy sounding batter. We drank house champagne which was delicious, I had chocolate pavlova with strawberries, he had chocolate pudding with mint ice cream. The desserts made the meal all that more memorable.

Great traditional feel with the wood paneling in the restaurant interspersed with modern art. Great friendly service too and the most divine smelling incense when you walk into the hotel and through the corridors.

The tables’ center piece (candlelit lighting), the colors, the classic detailing, and the dim ceiling lighting added consistency to the romantic atmosphere of the restaurant.

HIX Mayfair 3-1

Square MealMy love affair with food has now intensified with HIX Mayfair’s impeccable meals and exceptional service.

Mayfair at Brown’s Hotel is a must dining experience whether you make millions a year, or like me, are a mere muggle…er… mortal, you will have an amorous, almost nostalgic time at Mayfair Restaurant.
