For the Sherlock Holmes fan this hotel is perfectly located on Baker Street, London, a stones throw from the Sherlock Holmes Museum. A boutique hotel that pays homage to the great detective through understated artwork and furnishings. There are quirky touches throughout the hotel, which I loved, from Sherlock Holmes silhouette on tiles to the box frames featuring magnifying glasses in the room; it’s a really fun touch, especially if you are visiting the city for the first time.
My room was enormous and set on two levels, the downstairs area featuring the bathroom and an ample size living room space complete with television and a fully equipped desk. Then a staircase leading up to the gallery level with the bedroom and another television – I stayed the night of the X-Factor final and didn’t have to worry about missing a minute with a TV on both levels! It was open plan so very airy and light with huge windows, also the welcome chocolates always win me over – including the one that looked like a Christmas pudding!
Even though my room overlooked Baker Street itself it was surprisingly quiet, I thought I might hear traffic all night but not at all. It almost felt like a chic city des res because of the square footage.
Breakfast was a serve yourself buffet, could be never-ending if you were that hungry, I tried…
An ideal stop off for the Sherlock Holmes fan. Also fabulous for families as Madame Tussauds is walking distance, also Regents Park, London Zoo and Marylebone and Oxford Street for the shoppers amongst us.
