Hotel review – Ramada Encore, Luton Airport

Is so easy to find, it’s right next to Luton Airport, literally I could see the tail of an airplane from my hotel window. The hotel is brand spanking new and the lobby looks a little like a departure lounge (in a good way). It is very spacious, lots of daylight, has a departure board but without rucksacks and people sleeping across the seats waiting for their gates to be announced at some deathly hour.

The restaurant is open until 10pm (bar snacks are 24 hr.), you can order from the menu or the carvery and help yourself or sit at the bar and just have drinks and snacks, all quite similar to being in a Club Lounge (without the massage and/or blow dry!).

I stayed in a family room that consisted of a double bed, sofa bed, desk and chair plus bathroom with a walk-in shower. Clean, light and airy. It all felt calm and extremely quiet, it truly was hard to remember that I was right next to the airport; I’d imagined that it would be noisy and I would be constantly reminded I was at the end of a runway but it was nothing like that at all.

There is also a fully equipped gym plus 2 meeting rooms and free Wi-Fi throughout (and I really begrudge paying for Wi-Fi…).

I had a really pleasant stay. It’s not pretending to be a five star hotel but I felt they gave me five star service. The staff were super helpful and extremely friendly, there is a very good room rate, ample parking and I would definitely consider using Luton Airport to depart from, even if it meant I had to fly at a hideous time, as the stay here would make the start of the journey pain-free.
