My week – November 20th, 2012

With only five weeks to Christmas *shrieks * I’m running around screaming ‘where has all the time gone? I’m not ready for this’.

Seriously, I’m in denial and refuse to do any gift buying until at least December 1st (however, as my daughter’s Christmas list is currently running at two pages I may have to start filling in an amazon wish list to save a bit of time once December hits). Christmas at work means to me paper cuts from wrapping anything and everything and lots of crawling in lofts searching for decorations and Christmas lights, then balancing precariously from ladders and window sills to deck the halls… and who says being a PA isn’t a dangerous job…

However, with the party season nearly upon us I’ve been trying out some of the services around that will save you time and keep your beautifying needs going until at least the New Year. First up was a fabulous facial at Hydrohealing (review below), then Pearly’s for some teeth whitening, their ‘Smile Box’ is about to be launched in Boots stores across the country and what a fabulous box of tricks. It’ll keep you going for months, costs £50, and comes armed with brightening powder, whitening foam and a whitening pen – get it while you can! I finished with the ‘Pre-Party Pamper Package’ at Leticia Haute Coiffure in Marylebone, a blow dry, nail polish and make up application all in under an hour for £70, how cool is that? They are so fast and polished, it’s almost a drive-thru experience and such a great treat before a party night.

My evenings have included an online #adminchat which run every Thursday at 6pm (GMT) on twitter for an hour, hosted by Lucy Brazier of Executive Secretary Magazine and VA Magazine and joined by a professional in the PA/Admin world. Anyone can log in and join; it’s fast, furious and more importantly informative and fun, take a look if you don’t know it. My subject was ‘working in a job with no job description’, each week is different.

I found a great breakfast stop off during my running around at the Reform Social & Grill, located inside The Mandeville Hotel on Mandeville Place, just a hop and skip from St. Christopher’s Place and Selfridges. It’s ideal to meet at the start of the day, has great food, a buzzing atmosphere and more importantly good coffee!

H&M launched their latest guest designer Maison Martin Margiela last week and I went to a preview the night before it went on sale to the public – it was CRAZY in there, people trying on shoes, skirts, jackets in any corner of the store they could find (including me), but being a seasoned shopper I checked out the collection online so I knew what to look for, WAY too busy for browsing that night.

5 weeks people, 5 weeks…
